Option 4: Wake up!
Word Count: 581
Artemis leaps for the cottage, cursing the low gravity under her breath. Having a cottage of her own back on Earth, she figures she’ll feel right at home. She thought dealing with stars would help her connect more with her magic. After all, she was named for the Artemis constellation. She does her best to dodge the teeny stars that seem to burn her. She yells out in agony as she stops to turn back and glance at the space station. Was this really the smartest move? What if it was all a hallucination? A dream? She’d be stuck out in space forever… A sudden collision with another star made her turn away from the space station and continue her journey toward the mysterious cottage. After what seemed like an excruciatingly long time, she grabbed the door knob. She twisted and pulled but.. locked? Jammed? The stars were raining down hard at this point and she started to panic. She even tried muttering spells to stop the stars or open the door, but it refused to budge. She curled in front of the door, frantically searching for a way out. It felt like her fur was on fire before the door mysteriously opened and she tumbled inside. After a quick moment of surprise, she scrambled to close the door. Before she could close the door completely, she caught a glimpse of someone. The door slammed shut and she locked it. Not sure if it was going to hold, she ran over to the window to check on the stars. Perhaps also the certain someone she thought she saw. She blinked and rubbed her eyes. Everything was gone. Including the space station. Strange. She spent a few more moments at the window then turned around. Might as well explore the cottage now. She turned her headlamp on and proceeded. First the sitting area. Seemed peaceful somehow. Next the kitchen. There was a pot on the stove. Artemis got closer to take a peek then jumped. A loud crash came from the next room. She slowly stalked over and jumped out, ready to face the intruder. Except there wasn’t one. Everything was in order. She stared into the empty room and began questioning her sanity. Just what was going on today? She went back to the kitchen and froze. There was the someone from before. A man. He was at the stove, stirring something. Artemis just stood there like an icicle.
“Are you going to come have some lunch or stand there like a statue?” He glanced at her, white hair swaying as he did so. Artemis gaped at him, shocked that some random… creature? He looked like her but she wasn’t sure, could speak the same language. His frown deepened “It’s rude to stare.”
“S-Sorry.” She warily got closer but kept a safe distance. He expectantly held a wooden spoon up to her, startling her. “What?”
“Taste it. I need to know if my guests like it.”
“O-Oh..” she looked down at the spoon. Would he try to poison her? Knock her out?
He grew impatient and took a taste before holding the spoon back over to her “Taste it already.”
She tasted it then… everything went black.
Artemis awoke in a panic, grabbing her spacesuit. She looked around… the space station. Wait. She was back? She looked down at her papers. She must’ve dozed off. It was all a dream… wasn’t it? She thinks as she stares at the wooden spoon.
